Certificate of Origin

A Certificate of Origin (COO) is an essential trade document that certifies the country in which a product was manufactured or produced. It is required by customs authorities worldwide to determine the origin of goods for tariff concessions, preferential duty benefits, and smooth customs clearance.

There are two main types of COO in India:

  • Preferential COO – Issued for exports under trade agreements like FTAs, CEPA, CECA, etc., providing reduced or zero customs duty.

  • Non-Preferential COO – Certifies the origin of goods but does not provide duty benefits.

Benefits of Certificate of Origin:

  • Facilitates faster customs clearance

  • Enables exporters to claim tariff concessions

  • Builds trust with overseas buyers

  • Mandatory for compliance in international trade

We assist exporters in document preparation, application filing, and coordination with DGFT/Chambers of Commerce to obtain the Certificate of Origin smoothly and without delays.
